Our Material Choices

The materials we choose are crucial to creating garments that meet our high standards for performance, comfort, quality, and sustainability. That’s why we work closely with leading suppliers to select the right material for the right product. Here, we share more about some of the materials we use – carefully chosen for hunters, nature lovers, and those who live close to the wild.

Wool – Nature’s Own High-Performance Fibre

Wool has an exceptional ability to regulate body temperature – keeping you warm when it’s cold and cool when it’s warm. It also retains heat even when damp. We use wool in everything from jackets to socks and accessories. All our merino wool is mulesing-free, and we work exclusively with suppliers who ensure high standards of animal welfare. Our knitted pullovers feature fine wool from the Italian mill Tollegno – a name synonymous with quality.

Chevalite – Our Own Protective Membrane

Chevalite is our proprietary wind- and waterproof barrier. With micropores that allow vapour to escape while keeping rain out, it delivers garments that both protect and breathe. Chevalite is used either laminated directly to the outer fabric or as a separate liner – depending on the garment and its intended activity. The result is high functionality, lasting comfort, and long-term durability.

Gore-Tex®

Gore-Tex® is an advanced membrane that combines waterproof protection with excellent breathability. It keeps wind and rain out while allowing moisture vapour to escape, helping prevent condensation and chilling. All our Gore-Tex® garments undergo rigorous testing to ensure durability and performance. Together with Gore, we offer a waterproof guarantee – under normal wear, garments that fail to perform are repaired or replaced.

Wind-Tex®

Wind-Tex® is an advanced, elastic membrane that combines waterproof and windproof protection with high breathability, ensuring optimal comfort in changing weather conditions. With a water column rating of 10,000 mm and breathability of 20,000 g/m²/24h, it is ideal for activities where both protection and ventilation are essential.

This lightweight and flexible membrane helps regulate body temperature by maintaining a stable microclimate between the skin and the fabric, while efficiently transporting moisture away from the body. Its durability and shape retention ensure reliable performance even after repeated use and washing.

We use Wind-Tex® in our waterproof boots to provide dependable protection against wind and wet conditions, keeping your feet dry and comfortable throughout the day.

Windblocker – Our Windproof Solution

Windblocker is Chevalier’s own windproof construction – a membrane laminated to soft, quiet fleece or placed behind the outer fabric. This combination provides excellent insulation and wind protection without compromising comfort or freedom of movement.

GORE-TEX INFINIUM™ WINDSTOPPER®

GORE-TEX INFINIUM™ WINDSTOPPER® is a lightweight, fully windproof membrane with high breathability. Laminated between two layers of fleece, it creates a supple and silent garment – ideal when freedom of movement and quiet performance matter more than rain protection. It also works perfectly as an insulating mid-layer when temperatures drop.

Cotton

Whenever possible, we choose cotton grown with care. Our organic cotton is produced without harmful chemicals or pesticides – better for the environment and more comfortable to wear. The result is durable, soft fabrics with a natural feel and responsibility woven into every fibre.
